No worries! I’m sorry if I said it a bit bluntly in the post, but I do really appreciate you commenting on it and I genuinely found the talk really interesting. I thought it was the sweetest thing when you mentioned the analogy about the salt and dishes and the way you showed excitement upon seeing your typeface everywhere in the city. Hi Joe,
Many thanks for your kind words and I must really apologize if I came across as too hard on the issue of racism. I do come across misinterpretations/misunderstanding of the Middle East quite often, but I also get to meet wonderful people who are willing to spend the time to research and get to know the people they are designing for. I do hope the talk encourages more conversations and am always happy to help build bridges in any way I can.

This review reminds me of Suzanne Perkin’s ‘The good, the bad and the ugly’ workshop at Uni in Year 1. She spoke about how ugly type wasn’t necessarily bad and I’ve taken that view since too, some type is amazingly ugly but brilliant at what it is trying to convey.
